Something we never planned on doing were the Adventure Boogies in Dominican Republic. Ironically due to us booking a couple of additional trips we were given this for free. Knowing what I know now I most probably would have booked them anyway.
We were collected on Sunday afternoon at 16:30 to be taken to Macao for a ride in the Buggies. With no current knowledge of what they included. A truck appeared similar to the other trips we had been on.
After a 30 minute drive we arrived at the destination. The roads were all sand roads and we were still unsure what to expect.
Sods law December is a rainy period for Dominican Republic, and boy did we witness it. It was nice and refreshing, however when you know you are driving on dusty sand roads its going to turn to mud and sludge. Well it did…
We received a briefing where we were told what to expect and how to drive the buggy’s. I thought it was going to be a little circuit. How wrong was I!
The Adventure Boogies
Next we entered the buggy itself. It was a metal frame with an engine on the back, nothing fancy at all. After learning the controls we were told to follow the crowd.
Driving down the roads through puddles and over bumps it was a real adrenaline builder at first.
After about 30 minutes of driving we arrived at the Famous Caves. Move can be found on these here.
However a short period was spent to wash off and get sorted.
Return To The Buggy
Once we had experienced the Caves we headed back to the buggy to continue driving. This time it was the 30 minute drive back again. Down the same path we took to get to here.
Missed Our Turning
Just as we were arriving back at the Adventure Boogies Headquarters we drove straight past? Where were we going? We then headed onto the main road and turned right heading towards Macao Beach.
The drive meant a little cross over the motorway where they stopped the cars and we continued going all the way to the beach.
Once we arrived at the beach we were told we could leave our belongings together and they would keep an eye on them. We then had time to cool off in the water and clear ourselves from the muddy paths we had driven before.
It truly was an experience and visiting another beach just added to the fun.
Driving back to the Headquarters gave me time to contemplate this days adventure. It was the first of many to come and already I was buzzing.
It was amazing that we got all this free and had such a good time.
I would most certainly recommend it as an adventure if you aren’t afraid of getting a bit muddy and wet haha.
